I'm in love with tweetdeck. as i follow most anyone who is in a related business. ie. seo ppc adwords webdesign... I quickly began following hundreds of people...

It became clear after awhile that I was not really "following" all my friends.. I was mainly following tweets on my topics, which I setup as separate panels in the "search" function of tweetdeck... this is really what I follow, and the people I follow I follow for these reasons...

1. to be able to DM them, as you cannot DM someone unless they are follwoing you, so...

2. I follow them, so they will follow me, so I can DM

3. I also follow others so that my followers number grows, as about half the people I follow, then follow back. I display my twitter followers count on my blog, and I love to see that number grow :)
